ATTENTION: This is awork from home position and maybelocatedanywhere in the continental U.S. Must have land line internet access.

This position codes medical records, including all diagnoses, operative and diagnostic procedures in patient medical records, using the International Classification of Diseases and enters coded information into an automated system.

Essential Functions:

• Using the coding system, assigns and records an accurate code to all diagnoses, procedures, and operations as documented by the attending physician in the patients' medical records.

• Insures that all factors necessary for assigning an accurate DRG (Diagnostic Related Group) are present, and that all diagnoses are ranked properly.

• Provides information and responds to inquiries regarding medical documentation and DRG'S to hospital staff.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD9-CM) codes.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.
