Description TheManagerI incumbentwill coordinate the development and production support activities for two of the core applications used by Home Office Legal and Field Legal staff: Watson and TRACS, which provide access to the claims systems and support the Field Legal billing and timekeeping fucntions. In this role, a detailed understanding of end user business function and processes is an essential component for the identification and development of requirements to enable and optimize task automation opportunities and workflow efficiencies. Alignment of high level business objectives and translating those into targeted and effective development and support activities is a key to success in this role. The position requires the complete business oversight of all new development and support efforts, and management of the related systems development lifecycle activities of the two application teams. In addition, the position requires substantial data analysis, trouble-shooting, and business process reviewtodefine and deliver solutions for end userand internal business partnerissues. Theincumbent will oversee the execution of project work, coordinate the day to day activities of the applications, and manage individual contributor staff. Responsibilities
  1. Conceptualizes immediate and long-range needs of Department/Division with respect to project mission and operating plans. Must understand business objectives as they relate to project goals.
  2. Translates Department/Division needs into a comprehensive project plan and subprojects which ensures successful project completion. Negotiates project objectives and direction with Department Managers. Leads and executes project plans for projects or assignments; establishes scope and schedule; assign tasks and facilitate team process; monitors projects and assignments to ensure completion in timely manner; oversees staff deployment; provides input to performance appraisals; may write appraisals under direct supervision of manager.
  3. Enhances business partnerships and creates workflow efficiencies by maintaining positive relationships with established internal / external clients; may work with clients on emerging relationships; balances individual client needs with business priorities.
  4. Develops, implements and executes project plans for projects or assignments; establishes scope and schedule; assigns, coordinates and monitors project assignments; oversees staff deployment.
  5. Directs research on industry trends, competitors, and business and IT products; analyzes trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations.
  6. Works with other departments to coordinate interdepartmental activities in order to ensure that Liberty meets customer expectations. Resolves problems as needed to ensure that customers receive prompt, efficient service in accordance with company policies.
  7. Prepares periodic written reports for management team regarding project status and keeps Managers informed of project direction and renegotiates direction as necessary.
  8. Makes presentations regarding project direction and recommendations to Senior Department/Division Managers.
  9. Hires and manages individual contributors; coaches and counsels team members
  10. Develops individual performance objectives and development plans and insures alignment with project objectives. Appraises and evaluates team and individual performance and makes compensation recommendations; oversees the appraisal process.
