Our underwriters focus on answering two fundamental questions:should we write a policy for a particular customerand what is the fair price for the risk that we wouldincur by writing the policy?
On the surface, these questions may seem straightforward, but our underwriters must be smart, responsive problem solvers who can dig a little deeper for the answers. You will need to rely on your strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position offers you the chance to build on your academicsuccess and developrisk selection and decision making skills that canadvance your career. Responsibilities :
  • Successfully complete Underwriting Training Program which includes:on-the-job training,classroom instruction,self-study,case studies,rating and underwriting activities.
  • Develop judgment to accept, reject, or modify new/renewal business for all commercial lines (with guidance and direction as needed from experienced underwriters or team leader) to ensure a profitable book of business
  • Price business in a timely manner according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines
  • Market products to achieve company growth and profitability targets
  • Develop on-going relationships with internal and external customers; monitor profitability and quality of submissions; and be aware of underwriting and/or product changes
  • Review and become familiar with:policy coverage's,agency relationships,underwriting and team guidelines, processes and procedures,and business strategy/organization
