Position Summary:
The Room Service Cashier/Order Taker is responsible for taking, communicating and processing guest orders accurately and timely. He/she is also responsible for ensuring that all paperwork is in order and proper payment is collected.

Requirements
Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred. Physical requirements: Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to stand during entire shift. Mental requirements: Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Must be able to multi task. Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity. Must routinely meet deadlines. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Essential: Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working. Comply at all times with Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. Must be able to maintain a calm, friendly and personable attitude when communicating to our guests and team members. Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees. Answer the telephone according to established standards. Call all guests after delivery of order. Ensure order is taken properly, by repeating orders back to the guest. Must have math skills. Must be able to assist servers in setting up trays during peak seasons. Complete amenity request forms and ensure amenities are in order and prepared for delivery. Ensure all special orders are communicated to servers and to the kitchen. Process tickets upon servers return, and call back each guest to confirm satisfaction. Know and upsell the current specials. Be aware of 86 terminology and communicate items to servers. Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable departments. Adhere to all current service standards when receiving, preparing and delivering a guests order. Closing of all paperwork and knowledge of distributing service charges and tips to the servers according to the closing their duties that day. Assist in the up selling of wine to guests. Estimate delivery times according to business volume. Handle money according to hotel standards, ensuring accurate balancing. Keep work area clean and sanitary according to the Board of Health Regulations and HACCP. Understand proper food handling and rotation (FIFO). Marginal: Assist servers in the preparing and delivery of guest orders, as needed. Ensure cash is dropped in safe. Pay out service gratuities and run appropriate reports. Clear trays from floors according to established standards. Attend meetings/training as required by management. Perform other duties as required by management. Perform and ensure VIP & amenity changes & deliveries. CARE Certified. Safe Staff Food Handler Certified.
