The Computer Forensics Analyst requires competency in computer forensics and information security. This position will conduct computer forensic investigations, and forensic tool testing for a DoD law enforcement agency.

The successful candidate will work with other contractor personnel, USG special agents, attorneys, and others in investigating computer related crimes against the USG and DoD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct computer forensic investigations for USG law enforcement agencies, using in-house processes, COTS programs, and modern forensic tools.  Focus is on large-scale, worldwide investigations into network/system intrusions.

Conduct validation testing of digital forensic tools.

Maintain chain-of-custody and perform digital data acquisition of a wide variety of mediums.

Research new cyber forensic technologies and techniques.  Stay up-to-date with the most recent malicious techniques and technology platforms.

Document investigative findings, assisting in the overall investigation, and testify in court as needed.

Work within existing cyber forensics laboratory with small team.

Other duties as assigned.


The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with a wide variety of computer operating systems and network environments including Windows, OS X, and Linux.  Knowledge of additional platforms a plus.  
Must have understanding of general information systems security, network architectures, database concepts, e-mail systems, Office, common intrusion tools and techniques, and COTS computer forensic tools.  

Prior background in DoD environments a plus.

Must be able to conduct forensic exams of compromised computers, servers, and portable devices. Proficiency in conducting live analysis on systems, and use of multiple platforms is desired.  
Must be competent in searching for information that may have been deleted, hidden or lost in large datasets.  

A solid understanding and experience with with EnCase is required.

Must possess the ability to write reports of findings for use in prosecutions and to explain findings to less-experienced persons.  Excellent analytical skills and to be able to multi-task efficiently.  

Prior experience as an expert-witness in digital forensics a plus.

Ability to work independently as well as with small group.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

The successful candidate will have a combination of education and experience related to digital forensics. Prior experience with law enforcement and/or DoD a plus.

BS/BA or higher from an accredited education institution in a related field required.

Current DFE or CCI certification from DCITA required Other related professional certifications (i.e. EnCE, HTCIA, SANS, IASIS) are highly desirable.

Security Requirement:  TS/SCI

Requires Bachelors degree and seven to nine years of related experience with a minimum of four years experience in one or more of the following: computer network penetration testing and techniques; computer evidence seizure, computer forensic analysis, and dat recovery; computer intrusion analysis and incident response, intrusion detection; computer network surveillance/monitoring; network protocols, network devices, multiple operating systems, and secure architectures. Ability to obtain a security clearance.
