The Commercial Lines Manager is a disciplined, dynamic leader who is accountable for the results of the Commercial Lines Underwriting Functions. Lead, direct, and motivate a team of underwriters, associate underwriters, and rating professionals to achieve consistent profit and growth goals. Work closely with other functional areas including marketing, claims, IT, product, and actuarial. Provide technical assistance and review of the most complex commercial lines risks to ensure compliance and consistency in commercial lines underwriting practices. Review and approve, modify, or decline complex and /or unusual risks, in excess of underwriter?s authority level. Manage placement of facultative reinsurance. Conduct audits and analysis to identify patterns and trends that must be corrected or investigated. Determine if performance on risk caused excessive or unwarranted exposure. Monitor audit results to determine needs and address deficiencies.
Supervise the day-to-day underwriting operations by establishing priorities, scheduling and assigning work, adjusting schedules when necessary to meet completion dates, and assist others with resolving complex problems while ensuring adherence to underwriting standards and objectives. Knowledge and experience in Product Development and Project Management is desired. CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
