Decon is searching for an Environmental Technician I to work on a project in the Hayward, CA area.

The Environmental Technician I position requires familiarity with hazardous waste handling and manifesting activities on a full time basis.  The technician’s responsibilities will be to collect, segregate, and containerize waste materials in appropriate containers, fill out waste accumulation labels, prepare waste manifests, and schedule waste pick-ups on an as-needed basis.  The technician will also be trained in emergency response and spill cleanup activities.

The Environmental Technician will also need to be able to perform general labor tasks associated with decontamination, demolition, and general activities. In addition, employees fulfilling this position must be willing to perform necessary work in order to fulfill the clients and project needs.

Qualifications:

• High school education or equivalent
• Must have at least 3 years relative experience
• Must be personal computer proficient
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a self-started and self-motivated
• Possession of a valid Driver's license and a clean MVR
• Strong knowledge of excavation safety, including benching, sloping, and trench excavation safety
• General knowledge of hazardous waste/ material handling skills and regulations
• Must have completed 40 hours OSHA (HAZWOPER) training, confined space entry, lockout/ tagout, etc.
• Must be able to work a flexible shift
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug, physical, and functional capacity exam

Compensation: Will commensurate with experience.
