About This Position

This position requires at least 5 years Clinical Laboratory experience and a Bachelor"s Degree in Health Sciences. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Recent experience and expertise in Chemistry and Hematology in addition to the Transfusion Service. Candidates must have a current California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent is desirable.

The incumbent is accountable for the direct supervision of the Mercy General Laboratory to provide for the efficient and timely processing of specimens, and accurate and timely test results in a cost-efficient manner. The incumbent works closely with the Laboratory Director to set policies and procedures for the Clincal Lab areas. This responsibility is to be carried out in a manner consistent with the Mission and Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy.

The incumbent shall demonstrate behaviors consistent with the core (Mercy) values in support with Mercy General Hospital and the Mission and Philosophy of Dignity Health.
