This position requires at least 3 years of diagnostic and interventional cath lab RN experience. Candidates must have cardiac rhythms and basic cardiac hemodynamics and anatomy training and have the ability to wear lead aprons for an extended length of time during procedures. Candidates must have a current California RN License, ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association. Other certifications may be required. Our Cardiac Cath Labs has 3 suites and treats approximately 30 patients per week and a total of 1700 patients per year. We perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, implants,TEE"s, Tilt Table Studies, and Cardioversions. Currently we have Invasive Cardiologists, interventional Cardiologists, Vascular Surgeons and interventional Radiologists utilizing our labs.The RN position functions in all roles of the cardiac catheterization laboratory which includes retrieving supplies as a circulator and providing moderate sedation, assisting the physician at the table as a scrub person. In the monitor role you will be monitoring the patient"s hemodynamics, gathering information for hemodynamic calculations, and documentation of the procedure events. Procedures performed in the cardiac cath lab include coronary and peripheral diagnostic and interventions, pacemaker implants, and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Additionally, candidate must be able to perform as a member of an emergency standby call team as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor. Candidate must be able to arrive in the cardiac cath lab within 30 minutes of Cardiac Alert page. Further requirements include the ability to assist in patient transfers and stocking of supplies, and wearing a lead apron for an extended period of time. The incumbent provides, coordinates and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, providing leadership, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally.
