About This Position

Mercy San Juan’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a nationally recognized leader for its strong clinical performance in caring for the smallest of newborns. Our 26-bed NICU unit offers 12-hour shifts and professional development including NICU transport team, PICC-line training, HFOV classes, Nitric Oxide training, and therapeutic hypothermia training. Utilizing a holistic family-centered approach, the NICU RN consistently provides a safe and confidential environment throughout the delivery of care. As a professional, the NICU team is responsible for providing team leadership and develops a multidisciplinary plan of care on the infant assessment utilizing nursing diagnosis including projected date of discharge.Mercy San Juan’s NICU ranks among the top NICUs world’s elite for survival rates of premature infants, thanks to a neonatal team that works closely together. The team members include neonatologists, perinatologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, developmental specialists, lactation consultants, dietitians and pharmacists.

This position requires at least 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and RNC. Supervisory experience preferred. Candidates must have a current California RN License, AHA BLS, ACLS and NRP. Other certifications may be required.

The incumbent is responsible for providing direction and clinical supervision of patient care for specified unit, patient population and assigned staff. The Clinical Coordinator is a professional care giver with requisite clinical and supervisory experience which promotes an atmosphere that is responsive to the needs of patients, nursing, and medical staff. The Clinical Coordinator is knowledgeable about and promotes the philosophy, goals and objectives of the department.
