About This Position

Methodist Hospital, a member of Dignity Health, is currently seeking a Physician Assistant to add to their hospital staff. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing first assist duties to the patient during the surgery procedure under the direct supervision of the Surgeon, who is a member of the Medical Staff of Methodist Hospital and has full clinical privileges in the services indicated. The Assistant will provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions, which will help the surgeon to carry out a safe operative procedure with optimal results for the patient. Within this role, the Assistant will provide those medical services which he or she is competent to perform and which are consistent with the physician assistants education, training and experience, and which are delegated by a supervising physician who is responsible for the care of the patient. This position is responsible for the clinical coordination of the orthopedic patient from surgery to post discharge.

Requirements:

Minimum 1+ year experience and proof of training in Surgery First Assist duties in orthopedics, general surgery or bariatrics.
Must have a current CA Physician Assistant License and a BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
An ACLS Certification is preferred.
Must have knowledge of sterile technique in a surgical setting.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, display tact, discretions and confidentiality when dealing with support services, physicians, patients and their families
Knowledge of patient assessment and triage
Must be able to write legibly and demonstrate knowledge and use of approved abbreviations.
