Job Title: Building Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor (Facilities Services Center Supervisor) Position #: S03081 Grade: I Non-Bargaining Exempt Location: Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Salary: $46,259.20 - $62,441.60 - $78,873.60 per year (Note: Starting salary would generally fall within the first half of the range) Review of online applications begins Monday, February 25, 2013. Position is open until filled Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, Plant Maintenance and Operations unit, has need for a full-time Building Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor (Facilities Services Center Supervisor) position #S03081. Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Position is subject to occasional overtime and recalls. Job Summary:The primary function of this position is to supervise a team of 6 trades’ mechanic, engaged in the following fields: Electrical, Plumbing, Locksmithing, Carpentry and Painting. This position shall also be required to engage in hands-on tasks on a daily basis and support team members as needed. The work involves general building trade tasks to maintain the campus facilities, install or upgrade building distribution and centralized systems. The supervisor participates in and directs journey-level trades work performed by staff which shall include but not limited to: electricians, plumbers, painters, carpenters and locksmith/electronic central access control system. Some of the systems that fall under employee responsibility include but not limited to: exterior lighting systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, emergency power systems. This position also maintains and conducts a formal preventative maintenance program for campus building and systems. Required Qualifications: * High school diploma or GED. * Completion of a vocational or journeyman-level training program in electrical, electronic or general building trades work. * Management training with emphasis in the supervising employees represented by local union. * Journey-level licensed Electrician in Maryland, Montgomery County or from a State/County that reciprocates wit Montgomery County. * Valid Driver’s license. * Minimum of seven years of experience in troubleshooting and performing general building maintenance work involving electrical, plumbing, locksmithing, carpentry, cabinet making, floor installation, suspended ceiling installation, drywall hanging and finishing, painting, concrete and masonrywork; operating construction tools and equipment; or seven years of construction and project experience. * Minimum of five years experience in supervising a team of mechanics maintaining building and mechanical systems or functioning as a supervisor of foreman in the building construction and renovation field. * Considerable knowledge of building codes/regulations and safety requirements affecting construction, and skill in interpreting the guidelines. * Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations as they pertain to the construction industry, including awareness of asbestos and other environmental hazards. * Knowledge of processes for procuring and maintaining inventory. * Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications. * Skill in communication effectively orally and in writing. * Skill in dealing tactfully, effectively and equitably with people. * Skill in responding to problems in a safe and efficient manner.
