OCCUPATION PROFILE JOB FAMILY: HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS OCCUPATIONAL GROUP: DIAGNOSING AND TREATMENT PRACTITIONERS, HEALTH OCCUPATION: REGISTERED NURSES 29-1111 DESCRIPTION This is a highly professional registered nurse position within Children's Medical Services (CMS) Central Office-Tallahassee, Florida. This position reports to the Quality and Practice Management Unit Director. Primary duties of the incumbent will be statewide oversight and development of the CMS Utilization Management/Service Authorization program within the CMS Network. Work includes the development and update of statewide Utilization Operational Plan, policies and procedures related to assigned program and participate as a key member of the CMS-KIDS implementation team. Outstanding organizational, writing and communication skills a must. Detailed Medicaid knowledge is very helpful. Must be able to work independently and in team activities. Extensive travel is required based on program needs. Experience in writing policies and procedures a must. This is an 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday position. This position may require duties during statewide emergency procedures. EXAMPLES OF WORK Central Office contact for statewide CMS Area Offices. Participates in the development of statewide policies and procedures related to utilization management and service authorization for covered services by CMS program. Oversees and participates in the training and implementation of the CMS-KIDS TPA project. Provides technical assistance and oversight to CMS statewide Area Offices regarding out-of-state requests, growth hormone requests. Process invoices /payment requests from medical consultants. Acts in the role of Central office liaison for other state agencies as it relates to assigned programs. Prepares and updates Utilization Management Guidelines and Statewide May be required to perform on-site compliance reviews of statewide area offices Responds to special directions and instructions during emergency operations. Monitors the quality of care or standards of practice to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. Develops policies, procedures, rules and/or legislation. Develops or selects curriculum and prepares pamphlets, manuals, visual aids, course outlines, and other materials used in teaching. Writes research reports and other publications to document and communicate program activities or research findings. Prepares and justifies budgets for health care programs/services. Monitors, analyzes and coordinates expenditures within allocation.
