SPECIAL NOTES:
A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required. Preference will be given to applicants six (6) or more months of the following: education/work experience using relational databases; education/work experience using Microsoft’s SQL Server; work experience programming applications; and education/work experience using Microsoft’s .Net. The incumbent will be working with a team of programmers and analysts supporting the business needs of the various Divisions of the Department of Financial Services. Preference will be given to those candidates that have previous experience with .Net C# and SQL Server. Potential candidates will be required to first successfully pass a written exam. Oral interview requests will be based on the written exam score. This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description. This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle. Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the State application and any omission, falsification or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.

ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledgeof application development in both the mainframe and client server environments. Abilityto determine technical solutions from discussions with client representatives and through specifications and directions received from higher level analysts and administrators; to develop, test, implement and maintain computer programs according to specifications; to direct lower level programming staff through written specifications and technical assistance as needed; to work with higher level staff to carry out assignments and provide assistance as needed.Skillin communication and coaching.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Work with analyst and business area users to gather user requirements and create programs and reports to meet the requirements.

Create interfaces to simplify business user access to the created programs and reports.

Create documentation that will aid in maintaining and accessing the programs and reports.

Write and maintain programming code in accordance with all approved specifications.

Develop and present test criteria which will be used to certify correctness of queries.

Test new or modified programs and reports to ensure that planned results are obtained.

Work with higher level analysts to ensure consistent use of development standards.

Work with the development team and business area in system and user acceptance testing, ensuring adequate test plans and test scenarios are developed and performed.

Aid in the deployment of newly written programs and reports.

Analyze and tune queries for performance efficiency.

Debug and maintain queries and reports that are not performing correctly or efficiently.
