OCCUPATION PROFILE JOB FAMILY: HEALTHCARE SUPPORT OCCUPATIONAL GROUP: HEALTHCARE SUPPORT OCCUPATION: HOME HEALTH AIDES These position(s) are located within Region I. The counties included are: Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington. Salary is commensurate with experience. Successful applicant must pass a background screening, fingerprinting, and successful completion of a urine drug test will be a condition of employment. OPS vacancies may also be filled from this requisition. OPS positions are paid an hourly rate of pay with no benefits. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a training program to become a licensed practical nurse, a medical technician, or electroencephalograph technologist, or a certified nursing assistant; or Completion of a certified pharmacy technician program, possession of a certificate of award, and one year of providing pharmacy technical services; or one year of experience assisting in molding and removing casts for patients; or one year of experience in providing nursing or direct patient care services of a medical nature in a public health, medical or clinical laboratory; hospital; clinic; infirmary; nursing or convalescent home; or correctional or forensic facility or institution. DESCRIPTION This is work providing routine, personal healthcare in the home or in a facility under the direction of a licensed health care practitioner. Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and supervising employees. EXAMPLES OF WORK Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress and assessing performance. Takes height, weight or conducts routine laboratory tests. Changes bed linens, washes and irons patient's laundry, and cleans patient's quarters. Assists patients with activities of daily living. Administers prescribed oral medication and/or applies preparations and treatments under written direction of licensed healthcare practitioners/providers. Purchases, prepares, and serves food for patient and other members of family. Collects and records health information and services performed. Entertains patient, reads aloud, and plays cards and other games with patient. Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as requested. Calibrates and maintains equipment as directed. As a licensed midwife, may provide collaborative prenatal and postpartal care to pregnant women not at low risk in pregnancy, labor, and delivery, within a written protocol of a physician licensed under Chapter 458 or 459, Florida Statutes. As a licensed midwife, may provide family planning and well-woman care by providing care, support, and information to women regarding their overall reproductive health. Prepares written plan of action with family to ensure continuity of medical care throughout labor and delivery and to provide for immediate medical care if an emergency arises.
