This position is located at Bridgeport Hospital , primarily serving patients from Fairfield and New Haven Counties. Burn patients are seen in The Connecticut Burn Centerthe only burn center in Connecticutfrom throughout the state and neighboring states. Bridgeport Hospital has 383 licensed beds plus 42 beds licensed under Yale-New Haven Childrens Hospital, more than 2,600 employees, nearly 600 active attending physicians representing more than 60 subspecialties, 235 medical/surgical residents and fellows in programs affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, and more than 460 volunteers and 380 auxilians. Bridgeport Hospital provides nearly 260,000 patient care visits annually, more than 19,000 admissions; more than 207,000 total outpatient visits to the hospital (including more than 76,000 emergency department visits and more than 36,000 clinic visits); more than 7,500 SurgEase (same day surgery) visits, and 38,000 outpatient rehabilitation visits. The site of Connecticuts only dedicated Burn Center, Bridgeport Hospital is a regional Trauma Center and is part of southern Connecticuts only state-designated regional center for emergency preparedness and disaster response.
The successful candidate will be Board Certified/Board Eligible in general surgery and fellowship trained in trauma/surgical critical care or Acute Care Surgery. Individuals must be highly motivated, team oriented with excellent communication skills committed to surgical care, resident and student teaching. New fellows are encouraged to apply.
Other Aspects of Position
The surgeon will be working with general surgery cases, office practice andacute care surgery. This position offers a potential Yale University Academic appointment to commensurate with experience and credentials.
