This is a job summary which includes essential job duties of the position. More specific information regarding duties may be provided upon request. Position will be responsible for leading the category management efforts for the Writing category at Office Max. This individual will be responsible for analyzing various data sources, identifying business insights and recommending solutions that drive profitable growth. The Category Manager will work closely with the Buyer on key initiatives such as planning cycles, line reviews, etc. to develop and grow total category sales. Duties and Responsibilities: · Own the Category Management relationship with buyer and act as a trusted category advisor · Generate weekly reporting and provide insights, identify opportunities and deliver solutions that drive profitable category growth · Lead the line review process, make recommendations on category space allocations and develop POGs using space planning software · Develop presentations and present to buyer and key stakeholders (e.g. business reviews, line reviews, product/segment deep dives, shopper insights, etc.) · Become category SME and facilitate the development and deployment of industry Best Practices · Direct and perform analysis across a wide variety of retail business development issues Qualifications · Bachelor's degree (emphasis in business/marketing or related field), MBA a plus · 3-5 years of experience working with a leading CPG company (Category Management, Shopper Insights or related position) · Experience as Category Captain on a major regional account or National Retailer · Demonstrated knowledge of Category Management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success · Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines · Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) · Strong familiarity with syndicated data, measures and software (e.g. NPD, Nielsen/Nitro, IRI, Feature Vision, Spectra, etc.) · Prior experience analyzing retailer data and presenting key findings and recommendations to senior level executives · Proven ability to analyze and identify insights from a combination of data sources · Familiarity with space management software (e.g. JDA, Prospace, Spaceman, etc.) · Strong communication/follow-up, presentation, project management and organizational skills Additional Requirements:
