Dialog Designer Brazilian Portuguese Job Listing at Nuance in Remote, BR

This person will serve as the design link between Nuance Mobility products and the Brazilian consumer market. Working with a variety of professional services, Product, and creative groups within Nuance, s/he will be responsible for localizing natural language interfaces and Brazilian Portuguese, and for localizing cloud services as appropriate for the U.S. market to their Brazilian analogs. S/he will be expected to keep abreast of all locale-specific trends and movements in mobile applications and cloud-based consumer services, and advocate for continuous improvement in our products in being responsive to these trends.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Localizing written prompts from US English to Brazilian Portuguese.
• Consulting on demographic differences between Brazilian and U.S. target populations which are relevant to the design of applications and services.
• Working with Nuance Text-to-Speech scientists to optimize Brazilian Portuguese TTS.
• Working with Nuance speech recognition scientists to localize grammars (what can be spoken to such systems).
• Localizing artificial personalities to be optimal for Brazilian culture.
• Design reviews to identify significant functionality differences stemming from the different locales.
• Developing and maintaining in-country partner contacts as appropriate.

Number of Years of Work Experience: 1-3

Required Skills:

• Native-level writing fluency in Brazilian Portuguese.
• Proven track record in achieving quick and specific results with a minimum amount of direct supervision.
• Proven, hands-on track record in high-tech product or services design.
• Professional or graduate-level experience in multilingual translation or localization, including an understanding of baseline linguistic patterns.
• Up-to-date knowledge of media and social networking popular in Brazil.
• Up-to-date knowledge of mobile device trends in Brazil.

Preferred Skills:

• Native-level English fluency
• Demonstrated writing ability
• Experience in Usability Testing

Education:

Bachelors or Masters in human factors engineering, product interface design, cognitive science, experimental psychology, software design, or a similar degree.
