NLP Software Engineer Job Listing at Nuance in Burlington, MA

This position will focus on development of the lower level SDK for our NLP products. The person in this position will serve as a liaison between our NLP development groups that are distributed worldwide and the users of the SDK which are product development teams that are primarily co-located with the holder of this position.

• Design, development and maintenance of the CLU engine and platform.
• Design, development and maintenance of CLU applications using the Nuance SDK and other resources when necessary.
• Design, development and maintenance of NLP components in accordance with Nuance Clinical Language Understanding interface specifications.
• Creation of complex rules using Nuance’s custom XML rule language.

• 3-5 Years work Experience.
• Experience with the different aspects on development of client and server side J2SE applications.
• Three to five years experience with NLP applications (experience with machine learning, ontologies and rules/expert systems, data mining, information extraction, big data, UIMA experience is a plus)
• Knowledge of at least three of the following: Swing, JDBC, SQL, RMI, SOAP, Servlets, JSP, XML, XSL, AJAX,
• Experience with storage architectures including NoSQL, Hadoop, Csasandra.
• Experience with open source projects such as Subversion, Hudson, Apache, Tomcat, Jetty.
• Experience with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, MacOSX.
• Experience with analyzing and developing algorithms and mathematical models.
• Excellent English communication skills (written, oral, listening).
• Comfortable being part of a team over acting as an individual contributor..
• Excellent organization and planning skills. Project management experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated skills in patience, diplomacy, persistence

Degree in computer science. Specialization in biomedical informatics and/or NLP a plus

Some business related course work. Degree in business in addition to above is a plus. Demonstrated prior experience can serve as a substitute.

Must have current valid passport that will allow travel between Belgium and US.
