Research Engineer Job Listing at Nuance in Shanghai, CN

Reporting to TTS manager in Shanghai RD center, the research engineer will conduct innovative research and development on speech synthesis technologies for Asia languages.

As part of the worldwide Embedded RD organization, you will be contributing to the development of embedded text-to-speech technology for the Mobile and Automotive markets. Representative tasks will include:

•Design, implementation, evaluation, optimization and testing of new algorithms and tools for embedded text-to-speech synthesis, with a strong focus on unit selection synthesis for Chinese languages.

•Activities are targeted at the creation of commercial products for resource limited platforms.

•Focus on creating efficient production and development processes to bring the technology to marketable products in a wide range of languages.

•Occasional application of the developed algorithms and tools for producing systems for a specific language.

•Creation of demonstrators and evaluators of new technologies.

Required skills

digital signal processing, speech signal processing, strong mathematics knowledge, computer programming skills preferably in C, C++, Perl, Shell, Java etc, familiarity with different OS and computing platforms, good English and good communication skills

hands-on experiences in one or more of these areas, TTS RD, embedded systems, software engineeirng, natural language processing and understandin

Education

PhD or Master degree in EE or CS from a well known university
