Description
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of QA Engineers in Nuance’s Enterprise RD organization and overseeing development of test strategies and working directly with product teams to deliver high quality software products. The QA Manager will be directly responsible for providing oversight to ensure the team achieves high quality and on-time releases, as well as the continuous improvement of QA processes. The QA Manager will be directly responsible for implementation of test automation in these products, supporting rapid release cycles.

  • Lead day-to-day QA activities which include planning, scheduling, coordination meetings with project management and software development managers, developing test strategies, ensuring teams follow appropriate QA processes, and leading test execution
  • Maintain a high performing team by hiring, managing, mentoring, and coaching QA Engineers who are distributed in various geographic locations
  • Analyze new product features and lead the effort in creating the test strategies for them
  • Involved in some hands on testing activities and assisting the team members in trouble shooting issues they encounter
  • Anticipates quality problems and takes corrective action to resolve
  • Remove impediments for the QA team
  • Report progress on the status of each project to the QA Director on a regular basis
  • Regularly monitor team effectiveness
  • Ensure proper staffing for each project
  • Ensure that an appropriate level of test automation is being used in each project
Qualifications:

Number of Years of Work Experience: 7+

Required Skills:

- At least 5 years in a QA management and/or team lead role
- Sound knowledge of quality principles and test strategies
- Able to coach and motivate team
- Strong understanding of different software development methodologies (mainly Agile, but some Waterfall experience is helpful)
- Solid understanding of computer networks and excellent troubleshooting skills in these environments
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a multi project environment
- Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems quickly and creatively
- Experience developing and enhancing automated tests and devising test automation strategies

- Experience with GUI automation

- Good knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and system moitoring tools

-Basic knowledge of SQL

-Working knowledge of source control systems

Preferred Skills:

- Programming language knowledge is a plus: Perl, C or C++, Java

- GUI automation tools (such as QTP)
- Experience with Nuance speech recognition, and an understanding of voice technologies is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
