Job Description

This position will be responsible for IT Disaster Recovery Business Continuity planning efforts with a major focus on assuring Disaster Recovery readiness for all critical business processes supported by technology. This would involve - planning for necessary recovery documentations, reviewing recovery Plan(s) with various technology tracks supporting and other concern entities in the business environment for the recovery of necessary business processes and services.

In addition, this position will be responsible managing DR/BCP exercise(s) planning and execution; managing true-life recovery during disaster declaration; reporting and managing incidents during recovery execution. Team management and stakeholder (Senior Management) communication are the key responsibilities.

While the Manager of Disaster Recovery Business Continuity does not have supervisory responsibility, they must work collaboratively within the organization to succeed. The DR/BCP Manager will act as a coach for senior leaders and executives in helping them fulfill the role of DR/BCP sponsor.


Responsibilities

•Build a comprehensive DR Plan from disaster declaration to successful recovery of all the services in-scope.

•Manage all activities within the DR program including disaster recovery planning, processes, and recovery exercises

•Develop and maintain the Office Depot IT Business Continuity Plan

•Ensure that Disaster Recovery requirements are being appropriately implemented within projects

•Perform periodic gap analysis to ensure disaster recovery plans are acceptable for business critical infrastructure and applications

•Manage the DR Contract management process across all services and providers

•Ensure that IT integrators, outsourcers, and internal partners are designing disaster recovery capabilities based on DR reference architectures. In addition, review DR plans to ensure compliance and to verify the plans are complete, maintained, and appropriately tested

•Maintain disaster recovery risk and impacts log and facilitate the collection, maintenance, and status of all application disaster recovery capabilities centrally

•Establish and maintain appropriate DR governance processes, providing tools for those accountable and responsible to track progress and capabilities

•Develop and maintain program goals and KPI tracking to those goals

•Identify and plan of future initiatives in order to achieve goals

•Collaborate with the IT Infrastructure and Enterprise Systems teams to maintain and develop appropriate infrastructure reference architectures and design patterns

•Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure that DR requirements are being followed and implemented appropriately for new projects and systems undergoing significant change

•Work regularly with the Business Continuity team to ensure disaster recovery capabilities meet business requirements for recovery

•Collaborate with the Business Continuity Teams during the execution of the business impact analysis

•Prepare for regular disaster recovery steering committee meetings with executive stakeholders

Required Skills Experience

•10+ years hands-on experience within the disaster recovery and crisis management disciplines, with at least 8 years in a management position

•Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related degree. Master's Degree a plus.

•Proven leadership, management and coaching skills

•Broad IT technical management skills, recent design and deployment skills for DR technologies

•Strong understanding of Technology Service infrastructure (Hardware, Software, Networking, application operations, etc).

•Experience managing an enterprise level DR program

•Excellent interpersonal skills and experience dealing with both technical and business managers. Should have strong presentation and written skills, accompanied by effective project management capability.

•Extensive knowledge and experience with diverse IT architectures and Enterprise IT environments

•Knowledge and experience with physical and virtual server configurations and implementations, high availability server configurations and implementations

•Knowledge and experience with Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, Virtual Tape implementations, SAN Fabric architectures and configurations

•Knowledge of various data replications strategies, configurations, implementations and management

•Good understanding of security and system change control processes

•Ability to influence team members and drive results through a matrixed organizaiton

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team

•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both written and verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills)

•High level of IT literacy - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)


Preferred Requirements

•ITIL Foundation Certification

•Experience in Business Continuity Planning Software (Strohl's LDRPS)

•Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity certification from Disaster Recovery Journal or DRI International preferred

•Demonstrated Project Management experience

•Knowledge of IT Standards, Methodologies, CMM, SOX and audit requirements
