Responsibilities:

Provides a broad range of strategic support for Office Depot's industry-leading environmental supplier diversity programs.

Responsible for being a thought-partner and second-in-charge at ODHQ to Office Depot's Senior Director, Environmental Supplier Diversity. Develops all aspects of Office Depot's industry leading environmental and supplier diversity programs, including setting Strategic sustainability goals for the global company. The role has a particular focus on globalizing the strategy and tracking global performance data by engaging Office Depot managers and executives around the world to support the strategy, align with Corporate goals established and track performance against the goals.

One initial focus of the role is to advance Office Depot's Corporate Sustainability reporting to best in class. Within this part of the job, a first task will be to help Office Depot make decisions on the type of sustainability reporting it will do in the future, including level of alignment to GRI G4 / SASB / Integrated Reporting or others. Will also be responsible for ensuring we have the quantitative data and qualitative stories on our global environmental and supplier diversity programs to respond to hundreds of requests Office Depot receives for data and information on environmental and supplier diversity matters from customers, prospects, investors, rating agencies, stakeholders and media.

The Associate will learn each of these stakeholder information needs, gather and aggregate data and content that allows Office Depot to respond to those information needs and translate Office Depot programs / initiatives into vehicles including websites, reports, sell-sheets and case studies that effectively tell our story. Success implies satisfying all communication-and reporting related needs associated with environmental strategy and supplier diversity; and providing broad support to the Senior Director, Environmental Supplier Diversity Strategy.

An important part of the role will be to help globalize Office Depot's environmental and supplier diversity strategy. This will include taking trips to OD regions around the world, some with the Senior Director, and some independently, to start engaging other countries in OD's network on our environmental strategy, and tracking and improving global performance data by engaging Office Depot managers and executives around the world.

As well as all strategic items above, tactical tasks include but are not limited to updating and maintaining the environment supplier diversity sections of our Corporate Sustainability Site; creating content and managing environment and supplier diversity updates to FirstPlace our internal site for sales reps, responding to Requests for Proposals with environment and supplier diversity questions, developing sell sheets, videos, social media, etc.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years experience


Other Information:

  • 4-7 years' experience in environmental performance tracking, strategy development, and environmental reporting; exposure to wider notions of sustainability reporting and supplier diversity strategy desirable.

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Ability to distill complex data into simple charts

  • Solid knowledge of the principles and business case for environmental / diversity / sustainability strategy

  • Ability to simplify complex ideas and terms

  • Ability to manage and mentor people new to environmental / diversity / sustainability issues

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple functions

  • Strong customer focus and customer-facing communication skills

  • Experience with SASB and Integrated Reporting would be desirable

  • Carbon Footprint Calculation expertise.

  • GRI G4 certification desired

  • Microsoft Office ability in Excel (Expert), Word, PowerPoint
