The Senior Vice President of Brand Strategy Marketing will be responsible for the overall development and execution of strategic marketing and advertising programs for Office Depot. Inc. He/She will direct brand identity globally by establishing the strategic marketing initiatives for the company and developing a clearly differentiated brand positioning. The SVP, Brand Strategy Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing best in class integrated marketing plans with overall responsibility for 1) brand strategy and identity, 2) broadcast and print advertising, 3) media planning, 4) key customer segment initiatives, 5) private brand architecture, 6) vendor partnership marketing and 7) credit marketing and loyalty programs.
•Build a global brand that is respected as an industry leader and align the Office Depot organization around successful marketing strategies through education, influence and strong business partnerships. Manage and maximize the long-term value, equity and performance of the Office Depot brand.
•Manage vendor relationship marketing programs that drive incremental sales growth.
•Oversee credit marketing including co-branding and proprietary card programs including the development and testing of programs, to drive customer purchases.
•Manage the growth of brand awareness, equity, and the consistency of brand identity, ensuring that all marketing activities are aligned with brand strategy.
•Manage brand strategy, brand identity and architecture, advertising creative, media planning and buying and key customer marketing.
•Develop a team of marketing and branding professionals. Inspire and mentor a marketing team of senior, high performers to implement a common shared vision and to create a top-notch organization.
•Create and manage the processes to link brand strategy to marketing communications activities.
•Direct and manage Broadcast advertising development and execution, driving business growth through the effective management of brand and general marketing initiatives, media planning and the creative process.
•Oversee the liaison with agency management personnel, providing the strategic direction and lead to outside agencies responsible for broadcast advertising, key customer advertising, and media.
•Create and manage annual budgets, ensuring all activities are executed on time and on budget
•Be a thought leader about potential marketing/branding strategies for Office Depot including idea generation, partnerships, and strategic alliances.
EXPERIENCE/ ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
•Mature, classically trained marketing/branding executive with fifteen or more years of marketing and branding experience from CPG or Retail, with the ability to translate research findings and customer insights into innovative brand/marketing strategies that drive business results in a Retail setting.
•Demonstrated experience deisgning and using analytics to make fact based decisions that improve the effectiveness and the efficiencies of all marketing activities.
•Experience in direct marketing, credit marketing, loyalty programs, event management, multicutural marketing, promotional program management in a multi-billion Retail/Consumer business
•Significant experience in managing agency relationships. Integrated communications experience, strategic alliance development and strategic planning.
•Demonstrated expertise in Brand Management, creating, executing, and ensuring consistent implementation of a company-wide brand strategy with a track record for having developed and successfully executed creative, customer-oriented multi media marketing programs.
•Record of personal leadership and sound judgment, with a track record of attracting ,hiring and retaining a strong team of qualified marketing professionals.
•Exceptional communication skills including the ability to build solid partnerships both internally and externally, as well as the ability to delegate effectively and develop people.
•Develop a strong marketing competency in a merchandise-oriented, operations driven company.
•Proven track record as a change agent and team builder.
•Proven ability to build and inspire a high performance team and create an engaging climate.
•Exceptional leadership, management and communication skills.
•Exceptional education background, strong MBA and strong understanding of PL impacts.
Bachelors degree and 10+ years experience
