Position Title:Graphic Design Intern

Position Overview:
The Graphic Design Intern is a part-time internship positionworking in our graphic design departmentwith the responsibility to design and create graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs, such as packaging, displays, or logos. The position may use a variety of mediums to achieve artistic or decorative effects.

Critical Job Tasks
Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts
Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type
Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design
Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites
Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed
Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients or supervisors and making necessary changes
Use computer software to generate new images
Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products
Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing
Draw and print charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using a computer
Study illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of materials, products, or services
Produce proofs for client approval
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Strong typography, information design, interactive or web design, conceptual, and communication design skills
Excellent ability to visualize, structure, and prototype solutions
Knowledge, use and creation of templates, library items and site definitions
Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Requirements:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree (Preferred majors in graphic design)
2+ years of graphic and print media designing
Strong online portfolio of work to demonstrate skills
Must pass background check

Compensation:Paid hourly
