Description Database Design Analyst
We challenge you to join Philips Healthcare as an experienced Database Design Analyst, operating directly under the Director of Sales Compensation within the Incentive Compensation Design group. You will utilize your structural database design and data modeling skills to develop efficient data flow structures and integrated data mart reporting capabilities across incentive management systems and SAP. The work location of this position will be Bothell, WA. In this role, you will: Work with business partners to understand business processes and recommend data design to support business operations, provide reporting and ensure data integrity. Diagnoses data architecture and programming challenges to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, and evaluates new analytics tools and methodologies for possible deployment. Review and assess data architecture and database designs and make optimization/ improvement recommendations. Manage communication between developers and end users to ensure technical compatibility, proper translation of comp plans, and effective testing and system functionality outcomes. Review technical specification documentation to ensure that proposed software enhancements meet the business and functional requirements for incentive plan execution. Identifies gaps between the recommended processes and the existing end user environment, and documents system requirements necessary to build out ideal end-state. Design and create the technical specifications for data mart enhancements to support user needs for incentive system reporting functionality. Understand reporting objectives, gathers data requirements and identifies solutions to accomplish reporting objectives. Work with internal business SMEs to gather business or reporting requirements. May plan and execute unit, integration, and acceptance testing. Review and monitor incentive management system vendor performance and return-on-investment metrics. Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess vendor performance. Interprets SOW agreements and partners with vendors to ensure a common interpretation. Identifies and resolves or escalates vendor compliance issues. Provide documentation and high level training to end users on reporting and analytics tools that address business needs and effectively communicates those needs to internal and external development teams. Qualifications Experience developing and designing relational databases and datamarts. Demonstrated knowledge of database integration and normalization concepts, approaches, and tools, including the role of data architecture in successful implementation of a data integration strategy. 5 years of experience in performing business performance data analysis and report development. 5 years of experience in requirements gathering, technical requirements definition, testing, documentation, production implementation and support. Minimum of 3 years' experience with Business Objects Experience with data warehouse/datamart development and deployment. Experience implementing Business Intelligence applications. A strong familiarity with software development lifecycle practices and methodologies, including Agile SCRUM and traditional SDLC. Experience working with Callidus True Comp or comparable incentive management or enterprise software systems is a plus. Project management experience in a data warehousing environment is preferred. Development experience with SharePoint as a data repository and delivery vehicle is a plus. Critical Skills: Strong knowledge of data warehouse concepts, technologies, and best business practices; including data modeling, data sourcing, data transformation, data loading, data cleansing, data integrity checking and end-user tools. Interviewing, facilitation and presentation skills to communicate with varied individuals and groups at all levels of the organization about their needs and skills to ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information. Problem solving skills to identify critical issues to determine scope, present options and facilitate resolution. Writing skills to communicate information effectively to all stakeholders and technical staff. Interpersonal skills to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.
