Minimum Skills/Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent and trade or vocational school in licensed practical nursing. Current New Mexico LPN license or Graduate Practical Nurse Permit required ,and current CPR certification required. Less than one year experience in ambulatory setting.

Primary Job Functions

•Triage walk-in patients using problem focused guidelines to determine acuity levels.

•Identifies patient visit preparation needs based on patient preparation guidelines to include initiating POCT and radiology tests in collaboration with medical provider.

•Coordinates patients’ care through collaboration with the patient, family and healthcare team.

•Delegates f patient care activities to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.

•Documentation within scope of practice.

•Assists with treatments and administers medication as ordered by medical provider.

•Assists in orientation of new staff or students, and serve as a resource person and professional role model.

•Responsible for IV insertion, maintenance, and removal. Demonstrates skill in assessment of fluid balance and fluid/electrolyte replace therapy..

•May assume responsibility for other leadership role, as required by the department

•Assists physicians with various procedures..

•Assist in patient transfers to higher level of care, as order by medical provider.

•Completes required organizational and clinical competencies within the required time frame.

•Performs other functions as required.
