Description

Conducts complex assignments. Position requires a broad knowledge of practices and procedures. Responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining the ledger accounts and for developing financial statements. May work with both internal and external sources to ensure proper reporting of financial data. This is typically the most senior level job without significant supervisory responsibility. May have limited supervisory responsibility or provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountant jobs.


 


Specifically, the Accounting Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and authorizing monthly reconciliations and working with staff to correct errors, monitoring the daily trade activity, bank activity and feed to Oracle Ledger.  The Specialist is responsible for assisting staff and maintaining KIR standards.  The Specialist will train new hires.  The Accounting Specialist is often involved in current projects in the area and may have coordination roles within the group.  The Specialist is the first point of contact with business partners to resolve daily issues.


 


 This job is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime.



Undergraduate degree in accounting, economics or business preferred, but will consider candidates with proven experience in financial reporting and analysis.

  • 2 - 4 years experience in an Accounting/Operations position
  • Strong accounting, research and analytical skills.
  • Asset management industry experience a plus.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to drive process improvement.
  • Strong computer skills (a firm working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and Oracle Ledger).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and partnering skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
