Description
The Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP) is a rotational program designed to produce leaders within Prudential.  Twelve to eighteen-month rotational assignments across many business units offer a breadth of experience in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to: Group or Individual Life Insurance, Retirement Services, Annuities, Investments, International Insurance, and Corporate Actuarial, as well as opportunities in non-actuarial positions such as Treasurers, Audit, Controllers, and Financial Modeling.  Program associates have an outstanding opportunity to apply their analytical and technical skills to actuarial problems while learning business principles. This accelerated program delivers a fast-paced environment where you’ll gain valuable experience in a supportive atmosphere.
 
Following are some examples of duties associated with some rotational assignments: analyze product design and pricing; create a model to analyze portfolio holdings; develop and analyze business models; create and model cost and reserve methodologies for most favorable options; asset adequacy and cash flow testing using actuarial software; asset liability analysis or development of new products and rate filings; analyze how variables in product distribution affect operating income, revenues and return on equity.
 
As an associate within the program, you will be expected to pass actuarial exams administered by the Society of Actuaries at a prescribed pace.  Locations of rotational assignments are Hartford, CT and Shelton, CT.

  • Exposure to different aspects of the business including pricing, valuation, financial reporting, marketing and investments training to support the development of technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Supervisory and/or project leadership experience.

 

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have:
  • A minimum of one year actuarial experience is required.
  • Credit for one actuarial exam.
  • A math-focused college major or a math minor.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in school and/or volunteer organizations, preferably having held leadership positions in these activities.
  • Credit for SOA-approved courses that can be applied to VEE is a plus.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
