The Director of Disability Claims has ultimate accountability for
all claim management and administration for the Short Term
Disability and Absence Products departments.  The Director
will demonstrate exceptional leadership and technical expertise as
it relates to service, quality, and claim management. 
Financial controls and expectations will be closely monitored as it
relates to effectively managing claims while maintaining good
policy and client relationships.  In addition, the incumbent
will serve as an operational excellence ambassador identifying
opportunities for continuous process improvement.
 
The Director manages staff of approximately 50 direct and indirect
reports with ultimate responsibility of staff development through
coaching, professional development and performance
management.   The incumbent will collaborate with leaders
and teams across the Group Insurance organization identifying and
implementing strategic initiatives and meet business goals. 
They will also be responsible for the of strategic initiatives for
disability claim management, enhancements the disability product,
and improving procedures for both Absence and STD claim
management.
 
 

  • 10 years Disability experience, STD preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of Short Term Disability, statemandated plans, FMLA and ERISA
  • 5 to 7 years of management experience leading 25 people ormore
  • 1 to 3 years of Absence (FMLA) preferred
  • Change management experience
  • Demonstrated success in culture change and development
  • Superior leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal andwritten
  • Excellent relationship building and partnership skills
