Description
The Director of IT Portfolio Management has a strategic view of business objectives and how business and Information Technology (IT) programs/projects fit within these objectives.  This position has primary responsibility for planning, prioritization and forecasting Business and IT demand for initiative and Business As Usual (BAU) projects by partnering with the Business, Business Relationship Manager, the Prioritization Committee and Information Technology (IT).
 
The portfolio program manager continuously reviews the "state," performance and scale of contribution and value against strategic goals for every initiative in the portfolio.  Using statistical analysis techniques, the portfolio program manager identifies high- and low-value initiatives, and changes scale and likelihood of success and benefits/value to be delivered.  The portfolio program manager leads regular reviews of major initiatives, as IT Investments, and recommends whether an initiative should continue, be significantly changed, be places on hold or discontinued.
 
Responsibilities include: 
  • Partners with business, business relations management, resource managers, release management, capacity management to gather and confirm data needed to perform project prioritization and calendaring

  • Conduct scenario analysis for approved proposals, change requests and pending proposals to determine potential project start and implementation dates

  • Manages the coordination, tracking and delivery of the initial high level project estimate and potential start dates

  • Recommend project release options to the business partner that factors in Business priority, demand, capacity and technology constraints

  • Partner with Business and IT to "load balance" resource demand

  • Partner with PMO to communicate the roll-out of project releases

  • Oversees the operation of the Demand Management process with includes:

·         Managing the Book of Record for all IT Demand (project, cost, schedule)
·         Coordination, tracking and delivery of the initial high level project estimate and potential start dates
·         Governing all estimates and change controls throughout the lifecycle of a project
·         Generation and communication of monthly project re-forecasting and overall status to ensure IT transparency
 

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience in IT Planning, IT Portfolio Program Management, IT PMO, IT Portfolio functions
  • 5 + years experience with IT Demand Management
  • 15+ years of experience in Information Technology
  • Advanced Excel experience required; macros, pivot tables, advanced formulas
  • Experience and working knowledge of IT Project Management or Project Administration
  • Experience with IT Reporting, IT Portfolio and Project Management tools a plus
  • An overall control-oriented focus to ensure processes and service are compliant and risk averse
  • Demonstrated experience in the identification, assessment and management of project risk
  • Results oriented with the ability to drive Program/Project success
  • Clear, authoritative, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications) and presentation skills
  • Experience negotiating effectively and tactfully
  • Experience facilitating cross functional meetings
  • Relationship building and collaboration skills
