Prudential Retirement is a market leader in providing retirement plan solutions to public, private, and non-profit organizations. The Retirement Finance function, located in Hartford, CT, Woodbridge, NJ, and Scranton, PA, is responsible for accounting controls, financial reporting, planning and analysis as well as financial system and product development support for the Retirement business.
 
The Director, Finance Project Management position will lead the Dedicated Continuous Improvement Team within Retirement Finance. The position will focus on identifying efficiencies and improving effectiveness across Retirement Finance through automation, technology and continuous improvement. The position will seek to eliminate redundancies and non-value add processes as well as increase automation and establish efficiency metrics for senior leaders. The position will have significant interaction with the Finance senior leadership team and report directly to the VP, Financial Product Management. This position will be located in Hartford, CT.
 
The responsibilities of the position will include:
  • Champion innovation and automation within Finance; Lead key long term (12+ month) Management Reporting Solutions Initiative, along with a migration to a Continuous Improvement environment

  • Institute and manage a centralized project prioritization and accountability framework

  • Facilitate close partnerships between Finance and Corporate Financial Technology and Retirement Technology teams to utilize and leverage expert resources and tools.

  • Create a Finance-wide Capacity Planning Model

  • Develop and track efficiency metrics across Finance groups

  • Lead Finance enhancements and initiatives

  • Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to colleagues across Finance


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related field
  • Project Management experience required
  • Prudential Retirement Finance - Job Code 12526
  • Six-Sigma or Lean certification required, or equivalent Process Improvement Experience
  • Experience with Financial Systems required
  • Database Architecture experience preferred
  • Expert in Microsoft data applications, particularly Excel and Access
  • Highly motivated and creative problem solver; able to thrive in a results oriented environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing demands, to communicate complex issues in a clear succinct way to peers and senior executives, and to partner effectively with Retirement business units and Prudential Corporate areas
  • Strong leadership skills - ability to motivate and lead a cross-functional team where some members will not have a direct reporting relationship
