Description

The Pension Risk Transfer market presents a significant global growth opportunity for Prudential Retirement. Prudential Retirement has positioned itself as a thought leader in this market and continues to expand resources focusing on the challenges faced by plan sponsors in managing a pension plan. As part of our strategic focus on this market, we have created a new to team that is dedicated to researching the issues faced by plan sponsors in managing a pension plan including the impact of defined benefit plans on corporate valuations. This team will work with internal/external partners to develop financial strategies to manage pension risk and design solutions for Plan Sponsors through the creation of product offerings or improvement of our current product offerings.


 


This role will provide analytical support for this new team. The successful candidate will work closely with investment professionals, actuaries, and our product and finance team. Primary job responsibilities include:


 


  • Supporting the development and refining of proprietary models to analyze the impact of a pension plan on key corporate finance and balance sheet metrics.

  • Performing correlation calculations between financial metrics and corporate valuation and creditworthiness.

  • Performing empirical market research on the performance of “pension heavy” companies. 

  • Analytical support for development of pension risk management strategies and strategic rationale for Corporate Sponsors.

  • Modeling support for new product development.

  • Modeling support for specific financial aspects of customized jumbo transactions.

  • Providing analytical support for thought leadership white papers.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Mathematics, Finance, or Economics.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance and company valuation methods.
  • Excellent analytical/quantitative skills required including stochastic modeling.
  • Resourceful and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, & Word.
  • Be able to work, individually and as a team.
  • Possess strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize tasks and work in a deadline oriented environment.
