Our analysts work with small teams of investment professionals in our Asset Management, Marketing, Merchant Banking, Research and Transactions units.
Description: 
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyze and underwrite investment decisions for leasing, financing, capital improvement, acquisition and disposition scenarios including preparation of cash flow models, sensitivity tables, property valuations and joint venture structuring.

  • Participate in the property budget and strategic plan process.

  • Coordinate the property appraisal process and review quarterly appraisals for accuracy.

  • Provide on-going and quarterly portfolio level reports (insurance, rollover, tenant surveys).

  • Analyze economic, legal, political and market conditions within assigned areas.

  • Support the transaction due diligence and closing processes.

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders: leasing/sales brokers, property managers, portfolio analysts, joint venture partners, property appraisers, lenders and operations/accounting teams to support the asset management operation.

  • Coordinate and review monthly property management reports

  • Review draw requests and manage funding process.

  • Prepare Investment Committee memorandums and related support through risk analysis and in-depth understanding of investment factors.

  • Track sustainability initiatives

Qualifications:
Understand and use basic real estate terms and concepts such as net leases, gross leases, contracts, rents, percentage rents, operating expenses, capital expenditures, recovery of expenses and property types.

Understand basic finance concepts such as NOI returns, cash flow returns, internal rate of return, discount and cap rates, present value, and discounted cash flow.

Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated analytical ability.

Strong written communication skills required.

Computer proficiency with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.  Knowledge of Argus is a plus, but candidate must demonstrate ability to comfortably learn and use different software systems.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Must be able to work independently and within a team environment.

An ideal candidate would have one to two years of work experience in a related field. 

Bachelors' degree in business, finance or real estate strongly preferred.

Ability to travel on a limited basis.
