Description
The Trade Operations group, is responsible for providing operational support to the Prudential  Fixed Income (PFI) business.  PFI manages assets for institutional, retail and insurance clients worldwide, and together with its predecessor business units have managed US fixed income accounts for institutional clients since 1928.  The Trade Operations group adds value to the PFI business by mitigating operational risk associated with trading activities, and by ensuring timely and efficient settlement of long-term and short-term fixed income trades.    The Trade Operations group's main functions include daily trade confirmation, trade instruction, trade settlement and fails management.  The Operations Associate's primary duties are execution of daily tasks.
 
Job responsibilities may include:
 
  • Verbally or electronically confirming trades with counterparties

  • Ensuring proper delivery of trade information to custodian banks, accounting agents, broker/dealers and other downstream areas

  • Communicating trade discrepancies to the trading desk

  • Resolving trade discrepancies with the trading desk, broker/dealers and/or clients

  • Maintaining standing delivery instructions in trading system and vendor platforms

  • Proactively managing settlement of trades through usage of TradeSuite or other equivalent platform prior to settlement date.

  • Proactively monitoring trade settlement activity using custodian bank applications

  • Resolving trade fails with custodian banks or broker/dealers

  • Performing FX Netting activities to settle foreign currency trades

  • Training new hires

  • Updating procedures as required

  • Testing new system applications and workflows

  • Participating in group projects

  • Running daily reports

  • Responding to ad hoc requests for information
 

 

  • Degree in Economics, Finance or Business preferred.
  • Outstanding academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, work experience and demonstrated leadership qualities.  
  • Keen attention to detail.
