Prudential Financial, one of America's largest diversified Financial Services Companies, seeks a skilled and highly motivated individual to become part of our team as a Manager of Financial Reporting in the Group Insurance Finance area. Based in Roseland, NJ, this position will report to the Director of Financial Reporting supporting the Group Insurance business.


 


The successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of the Group Insurance financial results and analytics for the Group Disability products on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as well as the Consolidated Group Insurance results.  The financial reports are prepared based on both GAAP and Statutory guidelines.  This area is highly visible and involves partnering with the Group Insurance Actuaries, Group Insurance Planning and Analysis, Corporate Controllers, and the Corporate SEC Reporting Unit.  This area also provides significant support to external and internal auditors for quarterly reviews and year-end audits. 


 


The position offers the candidate an excellent opportunity to utilize their leadership skills and provides the opportunity to implement process improvements. The successful candidate will also play an active role in partnering with the Business to evaluate strategic initiatives.


 
Primary job responsibilities include:


  • Oversee and direct the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP Income Statements. 

  • Analyze trends and variances within the various lines of the product income statements and balance sheets working with the Group Insurance Actuaries, Premium Accounting and Planning and Analysis while ensuring the control, timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements.

  • Oversee the preparation of the Group Insurance segment's quarterly GAAP and Statutory financial results, 10Q/10K, MD&A and QFS and ensure compliance of the segment's Sarbanes-Oxley and Model Audit Rule requirements. 

  • Support quarterly/annual audits by Internal Auditors, as well as, Independent Auditors.

  • Identify and implement improvements to controls and the financial reporting processes.

  • Lead and develop a team of three finance associates.

  • Support Business management regarding financial impact of various strategic initiatives and coordinate implementation of accounting guidance for new products.


 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Finance or Accounting, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years financial statement preparation and analysis experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and reporting.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory/managerial experience required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with Prudential systems a plus.
  • Experience providing finance support for a business a plus.
  • Overtime required during peak periods.
