Description
The Manager, Medical Underwriting will be a part of our Group Medical Underwriting division located in Roseland, NJ, which processes applications for life and/or disability insurance coverage coming from our Group Insurance customers.
 
Responsible for medical underwriting policy and the oversight of technical aspects of the underwriting process including appeals, quality review, SOPs, complaints, policies, procedures, continuing education. Identifies areas of risk analysis to determine underwriting performance and result of underwriting tools. Through analytics and communication between claims, medical underwriting, and actuarial, identifies underwriting gaps and trends. Is familiar with medical underwriting underwriting industry trends and their application.
 
Is experienced in risk analysis and evaluation and can provide guidance and direction to an underwriting division of 35 underwriters. Responsible for the identification and implementation of tactical and strategic initiatives. Responsible for coaching, development and performance management of a team of 6-10 experienced underwriters. This position reports to the Vice President, Medical Underwriting.
 

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Operations management
  • Experience of Individual Insurance underwriting a plus
