To support the continued growth of this platform, we are seeking an FPGA Engineer who will drive continued optimization of our trading systems while coordinating with technical teams throughout the organization such as development, infrastructure, research, and trading. The successful candidate will become a key contributor in the creation, testing and deployment of next generation hardware and software platforms to host our trading infrastructure.


  • Play a key role in the optimization and performance tuning of our global trading systems using FPGAs
  • Develop custom RTL to optimize our low-latency, real-time trading operation
  • Participate in cutting edge Research and Development projects to test and implement next generation FPGA technologies
  • Work in a highly collaborative, cross functional environment, including interface with traders and quantitative analysts

Essential Attributes:

  • Expert knowledge of FPGA architecture design in VHDL and/or Verilog
  • Experience with FPGA connectivity through PCI Express, 1G/10G Ethernet, high-speed serial links
  • Experience implementing high-speed designs (200+ MHz clock domains)
  • Experience with the Xilinx Virtex 6/ 7 and/or Altera Stratix IV / V family of devices
  • Ability to understand synthesis reports, perform timing analysis and write FPGA design constraints
  • Experience building test benches and bus functional models for FPGA simulation
  • Ability to brainstorm and generate ideas quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Excellent documentation, reporting and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other science subject
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Must be passionate, determined, and have intellectual curiosity
  • Must have the ability and desire to work collaboratively
  • Must have the flexibility to experiment with novel solutions and the determination to test assumptions and conventional methods

Advantageous Attributes:

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other science subject
  • Experience writing System Verilog for synthesis and/or simulation (UVM/OVM)
  • Experience writing TCL scripts to drive simulation and synthesis tools
  • Experience in Trading or other real-time systems
  • Understanding of network protocols and packet level analysis
  • Experience in C, C++ development, preferably low-level systems development experience, writing libraries and Linux device drivers
  • Experience performance testing and optimizing operating systems and software to reduce latency
  • Experience developing system monitoring, task automation and real-time testing tools
