DescriptionTitle: Commercial & Industrial Credit Underwriter
Location: Louisiana-New Orleans Job Number: 21958 This position plays an integral role on the Commercial Banking Relationship Team. The individual will work directly with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, Credit Process Managers, and other Underwriters to analyze new commercial credit opportunities, underwrite new or renewed credit exposure, and manage a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships. The successful candidate will attend client and prospect meetings, gather information and perform research in order to indentify, quantify, and mitigate underwriting risk inherent in a commercial lending function. The candidate will be expected to develop strong working relationships with client management, internal teammates, credit officers, attorneys, auditors and other bankers. In some markets the associate may be assigned a portfolio of credits for which they will have primary portfolio management, monitoring and oversight responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Include: * Analyzes individual company performance and the impact of industry and competitive dynamics and macroeconomic events on the creditworthiness of clients and prospects * Provides in-depth analysis of financial statements, projections and business plans * Determines the appropriate risk rating for a company * Recommends and models appropriate loan structures and completes pricing models * Prepares in-depth loan approval documents for new loans, amendments, and renewals * Completes ongoing periodic credit servicing of loans within the portfolio including obtaining and analyzing financial statements, compliance certificates, and borrowing bases * Ensures compliance with internal bank credit policy and external regulatory requirements Qualifications: * College degree * Two years of commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management experience * A high school diploma or GED and 3 years of related commercial banking experience will also qualify. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must * Proficient with Excel – knowledge of basic excel modeling and formulas – as well as other standard Microsoft products Preferences: * Degree in Accounting or Finance * Formal credit training * Knowledge of standard banking applications such as Moody’s Risk Analyst Job: Risk Management Apply on Company Website |
