Description
We are looking for an Assistant IT Network Manager for a client in Newton, NJ to supervise and coordinate the technical aspects of a large, academic environment. The role involves assessing the networking needs, troubleshooting technical problems, and implementing new solutions. The position requires strong technical and interpersonal skills, and an ability to provide support to both faculty and staff.

Responsibilities include:
I. Facilitate technical communication and training
Participate on committees, task forces, workgroups, etc.
Maintain knowledge on current technology by reading technology periodicals, evaluating new technologies and attending trade-shows, technical seminars and training sessions.
Prepare technology and systems for new and departing users. Assist staff in understanding and using technology; conduct regular staff technology presentations and training.
Support faculty in use of educational technology; attend conferences on classroom technology and recommend hardware and software purchases; implement, test, maintain and support hardware and software products adopted by faculty members; conduct regular training program for faculty.
Work with students to teach or co-teach an elective to promote technology in the curriculum.

II. Manage computer network and infrastructure
Develop and document systems and standards for computer and network devices. Develop and maintain internal technology policies, standards and procedures. Plan and implement new network solutions and processes. Prepare, maintain and test a technology disaster recovery plan.
Coordinate with wiring contractors and vendors to debug problems and deploy new solutions.
Analyze technology requirements for new projects and develop functional specifications. Present and implement technological alternatives to streamline functions and improve productivity.
Act as second level technical support for other technical staff.
Coordinate with the technical staff to ensure that networks, workstations, operating systems and software applications are operational and that hardware and software are patched and/or updated.
Responsible for the discovery, mitigation and documentation of information technology risks.
