Position Overview:

As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will be the technical lead for the production engineering team in providing quality services. This position will be primarily responsible for helping to design, implement and maintain the server, storage, and network infrastructure.

This candidate should have a solid understanding of IT best practices with a focus on stability, security, performance and capacity. Based in Boston, MA, you will work with the Technical Operations Management to develop an effective IT program in a fast paced environment.

Position Description:

Provide senior engineering leadership on all design and standards issues including analysis, development, implementation, as well as training and mentoring of technologies
Evaluate, test, develop, and implement complex technical solutions to address a variety of business problems. This includes hardware, software, configurations standards, and creating solutions with specific focus on driving business value
Develop written procedures, engineering drawings, and other technical documentation
Coordinate and direct preventative maintenance of major systems components
Design, implementation, and management of storage platforms, networking, telecommunications, and information security
Champion standard change management and configuration policies
Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions
This individual must work effectively with Staff to VP level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties
To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through regular leadership and influencing others
Communicate to the general organization on the support efforts of project related items
Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines
Limited supervision and direction is provided, as this individual can operate and drive results and set priorities independently

Position Requirements:

Bachelors in computer science or equivalent experience
Must have at least 7 years of experience with enterprise level system design and support
5 years of experience as a technical lead or architect
Deep technical expertise on Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, DNS, Exchange 2007/2010, Microsoft TMG, Linux, Cisco/Extreme Networks WAN/LAN Technologies.
Bash/Powershell/Perl/Python or other scripting
Strong knowledge and experience with data center VMware/Hyper-V virtualization technologies
Exceptional hands-on knowledge of LAN, Routing, Switching, IP Networking, VPN technologies, DNS, VLANs, and Layer 2/3 protocols
Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and implementation
Experience managing Antivirus/Spyware, spam reduction and patch management tools
Experience managing iSCSI SAN/NAS 1GbE/10GbE based storage solutions
Experience with enterprise disk backup applications and hardware solutions
Experience with database and web hosting technology; MS SQL & IIS
Experience with monitoring tools to identify potential failures, and support forensic investigation.
Experience managing the day to day operations of the data centers
Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects

Additional qualifications a successful candidate may have:
Knowledge and Experience of VoIP implementation and support would be a plus
Preferred certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, MCSE, VCP, ITIL or other best practice methodology
