DescriptionSummary of Basic Functions
To supervise and coordinate activities of Grocery Department and its employees, including ordering, merchandising and labor control. Facilitate the movement of product from the receiving area and stock product on the shelves including facing, cleaning and rotating product. Assist the Store Director and Assistant Store Director in supervising the operations of the store. Ensure the production of quality merchandise and service consistent with Randalls / Tom Thumb standards. Specific Functions •Train grocery associates in store policies, department procedures, and job duties. •Coordinate grocery sales promotions. Prepare merchandise displays. •Ensure that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed and that shelves are clean and properly allocated. •Meet preset goals for departments in the areas of labor, sales, and productivity. •Plan daily operation, monitor production process following company procedures and profitability guidelines. •Initiate personnel actions such as transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions. •Maintain excellent customer and associate relations •Control inventory and shrink. •Maximize sales, gross profit and merchandising to the fullest extent possible. •Order, stock and rotate product on the shelves. •Maintain shelf schematics. •Stock dairy and frozen foods when necessary. •Maintain unit price tags and sign program. •Use hand pallet jack, box cutters and compactor. Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated •High School Diploma or equivalent. •Minimum age 18. •Minimum 1 year experience in Grocery retail and/or 6 months in management. •Successful completion of Randalls / Tom Thumb Management Training Program. •Working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Randalls / Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. •Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. •Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. •Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Working Conditions •Working in varied temperatures. •Fast-paced environment. Physical Functions and Methods •Independent mobility within the department. Standing and walking for 8 to 10 hours. •Manuel dexterity sufficient to handle boxes and supplies. •Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers. •Visual acuity sufficient to read product labels, coupons, and prices. •Strength to frequently lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 60 pounds. •Strength to occasionally lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds. •Occasional crouching and stooping to reach low storage areas and display cases.
