Description This position provides opportunity for continued advancement of individuals of outstanding technical capability who make substantial and
essential contributions on an individual basis.
This includes (1) individuals of broader experience and of demonstrated ability and good judgment and (2) individuals who are expert in a
particular specialized area of petroleum engineering. The increasing size and complexity of Aramco#s producing operations and the related
petroleum engineering support requires Aramco to have in- house expertise in various specialized areas. The Engineering Advisor, Senior
Engineering Advisor and Engineering Consultant positions provide for this expertise at increasing levels of recognized competence and
demonstrated ability to communicate with Management and working associates and to convert technical expertise into practical
recommendations regarding budget items, operating procedures, etc. Apart from the broader areas of Reservoir, Production and Workover
Engineering, specialized areas in which individuals have been previously placed in Advisor and Senior Advisor positions include: Reservoir
Simulation, Well Data Base Management, Long-Range Planning, Oil Well Corrosion, Gas Lift and Well Stimulation. Future application may
include such areas as Sand Control, Well Completion and Testing Equipment ant Gas Engineering. In addition, handles projects on behalf of
Aramco and represents Aramco under circumstances where Aramco would otherwise be dependent upon use of outside consultants.
Provides a combination of an extremely high level of expertise plus a background in Aramco operations which can probably not be matched
by use of outside consultants. Frequent contacts with all levels of Management within Petroleum Engineering and Operations. Often
represents Petroleum Engineering and Operations in contacts with other organizations or in presentations to Executive Management in
regard to new projects or operating procedure in his area of expertise, and will represent Aramco where appropriate in technical discussions
with SAG and Shareholder representatives and outside organizations. Will also typically be active in national and international professional
organizations in his area of expertise. May serve his professional organization as a lecturer, member of industry review boards, or chairman
of symposium in his area of expertise.
Requirements Education: BS in engineering or equivalent technical field. MS or PhD is desirable, but not required; intensive industry training including
appropriate specialized courses and seminars is expected.
Experience: Typically has at least 20 years of related experience, including 10 years of intensive experience in his specialty. Typically will be
active in related professional societies and will have achieved professional recognition through publications, committee activities, etc. Will
typically have received a higher level of industrial recognition, such as committee chairmanships, appointment as "distinguished lecturer", etc.
Other: Must be clearly recognized by both his supervisors and colleagues as thoroughly qualified and highly competent in his area of
expertise. In addition, must be recognized by PED as an expert in his/her field. Must have demonstrated ability to communicate ideas
clearly to work effectively with others, and to utilize his technical knowledge to achieve practical results. Supervisors and Aramco
Management must have confidence in his judgment and recommendations. Additionally, because of prior contacts and/or industry
recognition, Shareholder representatives, SAG personnel and other outside contacts should also recognize his technical expertise. He must
be able to represent Aramco effectively in such contacts and command technical respect. Further, to wide recognition as an outstanding
expert, must have repeatedly demonstrated his ability to employ his expertise effectively to achieve practical Aramco objectives.

Responsibilities A. Provides expert advice and assistance on operating problems relating to his area of expertise.
B. Specifies design criteria and relevant operating parameters for development of Bl's and/or new projects within his area of expertise.
C. Participates in project technical reviews and reviews proposals for new or changed operating procedures on his area of expertise to
ensure efficient and economic operations.
D. Conducts economic studies on cost analysis as appropriate to resolve alternative causes of action relative to his area of expertise.
E. Acts as Task Force Leader as assigned to solve special problems in his area of expertise.
F. Originates ideas for improvements, develops a basis for required field testing and Management review, analyses results and recommends
new or changed procedures and/or facilities.
G. Recommends, designs and oversees suitable outside investigations to resolve problems which exceed current engineering knowledge in
his specialty.
H. Represents Aramco in technical contacts with Shareholders and SAG representatives dealing with company procedures or proposed
operations relative to his area of expertise.
I. Makes presentations to Executive Management, to Shareholder Program Review or to various Shareholder Technical Meetings, as
appropriate.
J. Represents Aramco in dealings with manufacturers, vendors, outside consultants, etc. within his area of expertise.
K. Conducts seminars, prepares manuals and trains and develops Aramco engineers and operating personnel in his area of expertise.
L. Participates in technical societies and technical groups in his area of expertise; represents Aramco on industry committees or specialized
groups as appropriate.
M. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Unit Supervisor or Division Head to which he reports.
