Nonprofit organization seeks Public Policy Intern. The organization is an innovator on the forefront of working with the public, private, philanthropic and community sectors to advance environmental sustainability and global smart growth. This nonprofits mission is sustainable development of low income urban, suburban and rural neighborhoods. The organization is a leader in equitable community development and federal public policy. Programs address environmental quality, public health and energy public policy; policy advocacy; stakeholder education and capacity building; technical assistance and training; community outreach and engagement. We address the needs of low income, vulnerable and sensitive populations regarding issues such as greening the built environment; public engagement in municipal and regional planning; governmental investments; and liaison with federal and state officials on sustainability public policy. The Intern will work with our staff on a range of sustainable economic development issues including: environmental justice health disparities climate change energy efficiency renewable energy brownfields redevelopment smart growth and transportation workforce development and jobs The organization is located one block from Takoma Metro Station in Washington, DC.
