The Damage Field Engineer is responsible for providing direction to the product inspection teams at the Direct Delivery Center (DDC) and validating that the product inspections are conducted in accordance to documented procedures and sampling requirements. The Damage Field Engineer works with the product engineering managers to improve overall product quality, installation, serviceability, and the service incident rate of Sears’s consumer products. Supports the various operational area’s in Sears Holdings (SLS, Retail, Delivery, Repair) to minimize product damage by providing assistance, tools, or instructional materials that help the associates understanding , use , and interaction. RESPONSIBILITIES: •Product Quality (Damage) – Analyzes service call data, consumer/associate feedback, product returns and other sources of information to identify and resolve the causes of product damage expenses. Works with Sears Holdings operational area’s (SLS, Retail, Delivery, Repair) to refine/enhance functional processes that are impacting product damage expenses. •Works closely with the DDC Management team to reduce product damage within the four walls of the DDC (ie. material handling, equipment audits, etc.) •Delivery/Installation - Analyzes product returns, service call data, and other sources of information related to define system and tooling solutions to improve the ability of delivery and installation associates to identify Home Environment issues that will impact product performance. •Packaging – Works with the Product Development packaging engineer to improve product packaging, and material handling processes. Provides assistance to Sears Holdings Product Distribution and Delivery teams to analyze material handling processes. •Call Centers – Works with the CCN training functions at the DCSO facilities to support them in developing product-training materials, tools and systems that will assist in the diagnosis/avoidance of customer delivery, and installation issues. •Vendor Liaison – Oversees the packaging audits that are performed at either the Vendors product distribution centers or the Sears Holdings DDC’s. Coordinates product activities with vendors on Damage JPI’s (Joint Process Initiatives).
