Chemist-2 in Stable Isotopes Synthesis

This position will be responsible for custom synthesis of isotopically labeled compounds which accounts for $2M in sales each year and supports new product development, tech transfers and production scale up process. Each Chemist in R&D contributes approximately $300K in sales per year. R&D of custom products continues to grow each year. In 2011, the growth of custom products was 21%. Currently growth has slowed and back orders have increased, due mostly to head count restrictions.

Responsibilities will include developing new stable isotope labeled compounds; designing new methodology and strategy for multiple-steps synthesis of labeled compounds; designing and performing custom synthesis of stable isotope labeled compounds requested by our customers using chemical and biochemical synthesis especially in the areas of nucleotides/nucleosides, amino acids, carbohydrates, steroids, fatty acids, and metabolites; assisting the Manager / supervisor to improve existing processes and products for cost reduction, better quality and shorter cycle time.

Candidates must have MSc in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with 5 years industrial experience in stable isotope synthesis. Candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills and have strong background in HPLC, GC, NMR and MS. The ideal candidate will possess familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, production equipment, and have knowledge of GMP and ISO guidelines and regulations.
