Req Number: sial-00014130 Location(s): Milwaukee, Wisconsin PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Develops operational schedules to meet customer service objectives and support sales growth plans at the lowest overall inventory costs. Develop, test and execute models for scheduling operations. Lead and/or assist process improvement initiatives. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS '' Create operational schedules based on throughput, customer service, and all other company and/or departmental goals '' Identify scheduling constraints and test various methods and strategies in order to reduce or eliminate those constraints (i.e. bulk size, availability, fill time, warehouse space) '' Ensure a balanced load of work for packaging (defined schedules for room and hoods while allowing for flexibility with Bulk/Spec orders '' Expedite posted material '' Inventory reconciliation '' Schedule and maintain records on top 100 products '' Re-evaluate schedules on a regular basis '' Work closely with purchasing and production to ensure bulk availability and packaging requirements (supplies) '' Analyze inventory and forecast status in order to provide superior customer service '' Actively involved in process and PDSA tests/concepts '' Evaluate, test, recommend and/or implement changes that could improve service, cycle time, throughput efficiency, inventory levels, etc.. '' Contribute to the achievement of packaging and planning objectives through testing new ideas or strategies (safety, service, throughput, adherence to fixed schedules) '' Develop and define key measures: throughput, cycle time, units per hour, etc. '' Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned '' Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor''s degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics or related field or 2-5 years equivalent inventory control/scheduling experience Experience: Over 3 up to 12 months 2-4 years experience in moving material through the product delivery cycle, proficient with a PC, 2-4 years experience in packaging, scheduling (MRP) or inventory control Essential and Critical Skills: PC literate, working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, strong mathematical background, knowledge of the metric system and conversion of those units of measure, ISO standards (in relation to preparing documents), basic scheduling techniques and material requirements planning knowledge. Keyboarding, mathematical, organizational, spreadsheet, word processing, database management, problem solving, communication, attention to detail, teamwork, training, and leadership. Good judgment and analytical skills are imperative ADDITIONAL LOCAL NEEDS: Environmental Conditions: General Office Environment: Noise level in office environment is generally quiet. Lab Environment: Works near moving mechanical parts. Is frequently required to wear appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment ''PPE'' to protect themselves from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles. Distribution/Warehouse Environment: : Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Is Occasionally required to wear appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes) and other personal protection equipment ''PPE'' to protect themselves from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles. The work area may occasionally be wet, humid abnormally hot or cold. Facility Services Environment: Regularly works near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, sources of electrical shock, vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals for which protective equipment and procedures must be used. The workplace noise level is loud, occasionally very loud. Occasionally works in high, precarious places. Must have valid driver''s license. Performs work related travel. Physical Requirements: If performing office duties: Employee is required to sit, stand, hear, and use hands to operate all office equipment. Employee must view computer monitors for long periods of time. Vision requirements are close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee occasionally will be required to lift, generally no more than 25 pounds. If performing lab duties: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for long periods of time. The employee must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds unassisted and ability to push and pull heavy materials to complete assignment. The employee may be required to live more poundage with assistance. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly uses phones, computers, computer monitors and all office/laboratory equipment. The employee is also required to type at a computer keyboard and have the ability to read CRTs/computer monitors. If performing warehouse/distribution duties: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for long periods of time. The employee must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Employee may be required to move more than 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly uses phones, computers, computer monitors and all office/laboratory equipment. The employee is also required to type at a computer keyboard and have the ability to read CRTs/computer monitors If performing facility services duties: Ability to walk long distances and be able to stay on your feet for eight hours. the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for long periods of time. Use hands and feet to operate equipment. Occasionally lift 50 pounds unassisted and additional weight with assistance. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
