The Sony Network Entertainment Senior Software Engineer will be part of a newly formed Entertainment Cloud Software group responsible for delivering cloud based network software services for Sony devices.

* Design and implement RESTful API for Sony Entertainment Network, providing consistent experience throughout Sony’s devices, from BRAVIA to PLAYSTATION.
* Tackling Big Data issue with cutting-edge Open Source technologies.
* Assist with analyzing data patterns using Hadoop and derive interesting facts such as most popular products, trending videos, etc.
* Produce excellent, thorough design and development documentation
* Work with limited supervision under tight time constraints with changing requirements
* Familiar and comfortable with agile development methodology.
* Excited to be part of the effort to redefine entertainment in Sony Universe!

Qualifications:

*
5 years of experience in Java and development experience in developing web server applications

*
A good understanding of object oriented design and development techniques

*
Knowledge of and/or experience with RESTful Web Services

*
Experience with scripting is a big plus (Python, Perl, Ruby)

*
Knowledge of Hadoop is a big plus

*
Experience with Web Servers (Apache, Tomcat)

*
Experience with JDBC/Hibernate and MySQL database

*
Experience with AWS/S3 a plus

*
Excellent team player, and a fast learner

*
Strong written and verbal communication skills

*
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
