Position Description:

The cardiac rehabilitation nurse is a registered nurse who possesses advanced knowledge and skill in the area of cardiac nursing. The relief nurse will cover and assist with immediate responsibilities for the daily operations pertaining to the delivery of both in-patient and out-patient Cardiac Rehab in the absence of the cardiac rehab coordinator.

Education/Experience:
Required:
Graduate of an approved school for registered nurses.
Minimum three years experience as an R.N. with 1-2 years experience working with cardiac patients, preferably on a telemetry unit or coronary care unit. Has been directly involved in education to the patient with coronary heart disease including myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass surgery and angina and has some knowledge regarding the effects of exercise on the cardiovascular system.
Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.

License/Certification:
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty. Adavanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
