Special Educator - Per Diem St. Mary's is currently seeking per diem Special Educators to serve the Staten Island area. Qualified candidates will provide Special Education teaching skills in accordance with the program's mandate; conduct formal and informal assessments in order to determine ongoing eligibility for services and need for additional services; treat the child through use of therapeutic activities designed to restore/improve function; select and prepare developmentally appropriate education materials; work collaboratively with Early Intervention Team to provide the appropriate service for each child and family; consult with other staff members to ensure quality of care; observe, record and report the child's reaction to treatment and any changes in child's condition to the service coordinator/case manager/nurse coordinator/clinician; instruct, coach and advise family, caregiver and other health team professionals in activities for carryover designed to assist child in meeting goals as outlined in IFSP.
